Red Cross Aruba at Regional Meeting of National Societies on the Humanitarian Approach to Human Trafficking in Bogota, Colombia

On May 3th, 2022 the Regional meeting of National Societies on the Humanitarian Approach to Human Trafficking initiated in Bogota, Colombia. Aruba was invited to be part of the regional meeting and also contribute as panelist and present the program that was executed in Aruba.

On the first day, Tracey Werleman formed part of the panel which had a focus on regional dynamics of human trafficking such as social, cultural and economic, vulnerabilities, states response to trafficking, capacities of the National Societies, challenges, and how to strengthen the regional response. The next day Tracey presented the project that was carried out in Aruba. 

The focus of this presentation was on the situation in Aruba, the assessment executed, services provided and lessons learned. The regional meeting contributed to the formation and strengthening of networks between the different National Sociaties of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela and Aruba. The Regional meeting came to an end on May 5th, 2022 with the final panel focusing on the Challenges and prospects for the development and financing of the humanitarian approach to human trafficking in the Americas.
